4th of July

We had a busy 4th of July with lots of family in to visit. Granny, Lynda, Katy, Justice (Katy's service dog), Alex and Cal all came on Wednesday. John grilled up some really good chicken for dinner followed by swimming at the pool!

Grandma and Rara joined the fun on Thursday.John again grilled amazing food. For lunch he made Brats and for dinner we had smoked Ribs and Pork Butt.  Miss Camryn stole the show with being the newest Butler baby.

We went down to the water front for some fishing, boating and s'mores!

John took Alex for a boat ride around the cove.

Caleb and Chase loved making s'mores. I think Chase at more marshmallows then actual s'mores and Caleb tried to master getting the marshmallow golden brown. While uncle Cal was waiting for his turn to build his s'more big brother John clapped Cal's perfectly toasted marshmallows and made a big mess. So naturally Cal smeared gooey marshmallow all over John! Those darn kids :o) That reminds me I need to clean off the marshmallow stuck to the seat of the Tahoe. O, and don't worry Cal did re-roast some marshmallows and had a double decker s'more.

Friday we said goodbye to Granny, Lynda, Alex, Katy and Justice. That evening the rest of us went to Johnson Lake to watch fireworks. When we first planned this adventure we were going to go sit on blankets and watch from anyplace we could find. However, Cal's girlfriend has a cabin on the lake, so we went to her house and watched the show from her back yard. Thanks Charlene for letting us come!

Saturday was Aebleskiver time! For those of you who don't know what they are imagine a pancake but in a ball shape. They are puffy and light on the inside and we dip them in sugar. Originally they were filled with jam or had apples and cinnamon inside.

Caleb and Chase love them so much that I have to keep it a secret of when we are going to make them. They also ate the first plate of Aebleskivers before Cal or Rara could have any! Each batch makes about 30...well I had to make 2 batches to full up this bunch! Breakfast did not get over till 10:45. They were so good!

And here is a picture of all of our kids with Granny. So glad we were able to get the kids to sit still.

Granny brought out a bike for John to ride around camp. What do you think?
HAHAHAHA! Silly guy!
We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed catching up. Hope all our family and friends who were not here also had a great holiday.
